{"id":114,"date":"2012-03-21T13:05:19","date_gmt":"2012-03-21T19:05:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/coffee.germar.net\/?p=114"},"modified":"2012-03-21T13:05:19","modified_gmt":"2012-03-21T19:05:19","slug":"whats-the-best-decaf-coffee-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coffee.germar.net\/?p=114","title":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s The Best Decaf Coffee Available?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I get asked all the time.<\/p>\n<p>And my response is always cautious.\u00a0 The question is way too subjective, and there&#8217;s about 20 different brewing variables that will impact how any one coffee will behave.\u00a0 But if you want to know what I think is the best decaf available, I will.\u00a0 But you need to tell me yours.<\/p>\n<p>What makes a great decaf coffee?\u00a0 Well, I think some decafs have a processed taste, like the bean has been also sucked dry of flavor as well as caffeine.\u00a0 I look for a coffee that has a full, complex flavor.\u00a0 I like something that satisfies not only my tastebuds but SMELLS good too &#8230;. in the bag and also in the cup.\u00a0 I like something that relies on the bean characteristics rather than the sheer darkness of the roast to transmit taste to me.\u00a0 Again, it&#8217;s the quality of the bean and the method of caffeine extraction that makes the difference.<\/p>\n<p>My choice for best decaf coffee that&#8217;s widely available is:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Peet&#8217;s Coffee,\u00a0 &#8220;Major Dickason&#8217;s Blend -Decaf&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_115\" style=\"width: 170px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/coffee.germar.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/peets.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-115\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-115\" title=\"peets\" src=\"https:\/\/coffee.germar.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/peets.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"160\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/coffee.germar.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/peets.jpg 160w, https:\/\/coffee.germar.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/peets-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 160px) 100vw, 160px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-115\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">My current favorite, Major Dickason&#39;s Decaf!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>You can find this in many supermarkets or gourmet markets.\u00a0 You can buy it directly from Alfred Peet&#8217;s company for 15.95 a pound.\u00a0 It has what it takes to be considered an all-world cup of decaf joe:\u00a0 full and rich, not a whole lot of unwanted roast characteristics, works for the nose as well as the tongue, and doesn&#8217;t have that nasty &#8220;I&#8217;ve-been-messed-with&#8221; over-processed quality that cheaper decafs have (think -&#8220;Sanka&#8221;).<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s what I think.\u00a0\u00a0 I&#8217;ll always like this particular blend, but I can be convinced that the crown should go elsewhere.\u00a0 Tell me what your favorite is and I&#8217;ll give it a spin here on the blog.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I get asked all the time.
